How to Talk to Little Girls

It's been hectic week at our house - colds, broken refrigerators, sprained ankles...  But it's good to be back on the blog.  I know I've had some weeks where I neglected posting before, but I feel so relieved to return today - like catching up with an old friend over tea.  I missed you. :)

I just read a brilliant article by Lisa Bloom on Huffington Post and had to share it immediately.  She encourages adults to model what intelligent, thinking women do - talk about thoughts and accomplishments and books, instead of the way a person looks.

  1. I thoroughly enjoy your blog and look at it every day! I get my shot of Lily/Ruby sightings! Thanks Trace for making it happen.

  2. The author is right. I know how hard it is to get away from "cuteness" and just talk like a regular person with a little kid! I have the added impediment of distance of course. Still, I will work on that!!! I know that I love to show my paintings to Lily. She gets so excited and can recognize my work:-)

  3. I loved this article. I read it after seeing my friend's 4 year old daughter the day before. The first thing I said to the little girl was - "oh my goodness, I love your shoes" :-(

  4. I can't help myself either - it's such a reflex to comment on a person's appearance! I am working on it though...
